Welcome to the Ash Folk Music Session Page
Folk Music Sessions in Ash in Somerset
The Ash Folk Music Sessions are a continuation of over 20 years of folk music sessions in the South Somersetarea (originally based at The Wheatsheaf in South Petherton). Our catchment area covers Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Wiltshire and the session really is “the place to be” in the Yeovil Area. The session content is mostly folk music (because that’s how they got started) but singers are equally welcome, with the understanding the session is not a folk club and that we are performing amongst the pub regulars who my well continue talking while you sing.
There is no fixed programme, with the musical mix of each session determined by the musicians and singers who are there at the time. We use a “jump in and play” format to keep things moving and also to give people the opportunity to contrubute as and when they feel ready. The music is Multinational including English/French/Scandinavian/American and more, and covers possibly the broadest range of folk music played in Somerset or even the SouthWest!
Sessions are held in the bar area or the Function Room of the Bell Inn at Ash (postcode TA12 6NS) on the Second Tuesday and the Fourth Thursday of the month starting at 8:30pm, but we will start any time after 8pm if there are enough of us.
